OTD (older than dirt) posts her first blog

No fancy schmancy photos will accompany this but I'll surprise all of you one day.

Today we were visiting Kristin for lunch and her 5-year old, Elise, said, "Hey, Grandma. I can show you a picture of someone who's older than you!!" She'd recently gotten her pre-school class photo which also included photos of her teacher and the school principal. Lo and behold there was a photo of a little gray-haired lady, the principal, who really did look older than me. Kristin properly scolded the little twirp but I got even with Elise later when we played a game and I beat her twice, not giving her an edge as I normally would do.

I'm savoring every minute I spend with this Melendez family. For those of you who don't already know, Kristin, Brian, and the three children will be leaving at the end of July for El Salvador where Kristin and Brian will be teaching at the American School in San Salvador for two school years. Brian's school, Concordia Academy - Bloomington, will be closing at the end of this school year for financial reasons, which left him without a job. They were familiar with the American School system, having taught for four years in Singapore where Eric was born. B & K attended a job fair in January and found someone they'd known in Singapore who was now a principal in San Salvadore. One thing led to another and they accepted positions there -- Brian teaching HS physics and Kristin in the elementary school. And, of course, the parents want to take the grandkids along ................. bummer. They've PROMISED to come back after two years.
I'm praying for a continued stable government there.

Hope to hear from more of you as time goes on. This is a great way to stay in touch.

Blessings, Lori (Loretta)

Hello Vahlmutt's,

Just checking-in. Who ever thought a bunch of dumb German's from NoDak would end up communicating this way...our ancestor's are probably "rolling-over".

Best regards to all, Marv

Blog experiment, Eastern Washington trip

Well, this is my second experiment in writing what may become a "Wall Mouth" family blog, newsletter or, whatever one wants to call it. Lori Wachter sent me a few of the relatives email addresses so I will send a short note to those I have addresses to give information on how to log onto the sight should anyone wish to post some news.

I (Greg Wollmuth) just finished a business trip to Spokane, Washington on the border of Washington and Idaho. This is the city where my parents, Lorin and Delores met while Lorin was in the Air Force in the early '50's. I go to Spokane about 3 times a year to call on accounts that I deal with in the office supply business I am a Manufacture's Rep for. One of the beautiful sights in the city is Spokane Falls. This was the original name of the city. Spokane being one of the local Indian tribes.

After finishing up in Spokane I headed to Walla Walla, Washington to make some more sales calls and stay at Duane and Mary Wollmuth's house. Duane was hard at work in the vineyard he has on his place. Mary has a new job as Marketing Director for a retirement apartment complex. The people love her there and she's doing a great job.

After finishing up in Walla Walla I headed to Portland to pick up a stationary bicycle my parents had. After my heart attack in December the doctor said I should do some cardio exercises. My folks and I watched a Trail Blazer NBA game at Tom and Rhonda Tuckers. They are going to Washington D C later this month. I am trying to convince them to publish some comments and pictures in this blog.

If anyone that reads this wants some help in publishing some comments please let me know. It would be wonderful to hear from some of you.

Creating a blog - if anyone cares??

After reading the blog of a good friend who moved to Oklahoma City to work for the Thunder (ex-Sonics) I decided to move into the 21st Century and create a blog. Now that I have figured out how to post photos, etc. it should become a way of communicating with people near and far.

It might even be a way to keep relatives in other states informed of happenings with the Wollmuth clan and other relatives.
I thought I would post things of interest to anyone with the dreaded "Wallmouth" last name. Be it a current or maiden name. For example, we celebrated Lorin's 80th birthday a couple of weeks ago in Beaverton, Oregon. Lori Wachter, Melvin's oldest daughter flew out from Minneapolis, MN to take part in the festivities. Also, attending a dinner in Lorin's honor were Marvin and Robert (Bob) Wollmuth, Rolands boys. Duane and Mary and one of their two daughters (Mollie) came over from Walla Walla, WA. Tom and Rhonda were also at the dinner held at Gustav's Restaurant. The picture above shows Lorin and Dee and Duane preparing to chow down.

I am headed to Portland Saturday to pick up my folks and head to Spokane, WA on a business trip. Lorin and Dee have good friends in the Spokane area. So, they will be staying with them for a couple of days while I make my sales calls. Then we will head down to Walla Walla and stay with Duane and Mary for a day or so.

Well, the blogging experiment begins ....
